Review 2: My Soul to Take

The first official book in the Soul Screamers' series was pretty great. It had some serious twists that I did not expect at all. The characters are developing nicely although I'm sure they have a long way to go. Some parts of the story made me sad. But that's part of a great book, being able to make a reader feel different emotions while reading it.

I'm excited to learn more about the characters, especially Tod, who we just found out at the end of the book was Nash's brother! That was a shocker, although with all the bickering between the two I figured they had to at least have been best friends before Tod became a reaper. I'm a little worried about how Tod feels for Kaylee, I don't know if he is protective of her because of his brother or because he is starting to like her as well.

It was interesting how Rachel Vincent portrayed Kaylee's Aunt Val. With Val's drinking because of all the girl's deaths I was a little confused as to why she was taking it so hard. I thought maybe because she was friends with one of the girls' mothers, but it turned out that she was basically feeling guilty because they were all dying because she made a deal so she could be young again. I was completely shock even more so than finding out about Tod. She is married to a Bean Sidhe for crying out loud, didn't she know better than making a deal with a reaper! I guess not.

I have really enjoyed this book and can not wait to read the next one!
